Adventures at Vahina-Paradis B&B, un petit cabanon.
Un petit cabanon
Click the photo to play the song, improvised in our dog-friendly B&B in ChĂąteauvieux.
By the fireplace in ChĂąteauvieux, I improvised a song about an old hut that Vahina and I pass on our walks. It stands forty minutes on foot from the house, but even there you look up at the skies of Gap-Tallard airfield.
Every day, Vahina and I set out for three or four hours of walking on the forest tracks around ChĂąteauvieux. So, forty minutes from the house, we pass a little cabanon, a small mountain hut. It is old, it creaks, it rusts, and its roof has long deserved a restoration. That is why I photographed it: it is the picture behind the song.
A song born live
I did not write this song in advance. I made it up live, in front of the camera, because that is how you improvise: a refrain comes, then you repeat it and let it change a little each time round. The song is in French, so here it is, with an English version below.
There was a little cabanon in the mountains,
a piece of you that made me creak,
a piece of you that made me rust,
a piece of you I would have restored.
There was a little cabanon in the mountains,
a piece of you that made me dream,
a piece of you I would have loved,
a piece of you I would have kissed.
Listen to how the refrain slides. At first, the cabanon creaks and rusts, so I would have restored it. By the end, however, the same âpiece of youâ makes me dream, and I would have kissed it. Thus the cabanon and the beloved woman are one single figure: something worn, that you would like to mend and long to kiss.
From the song to our dog-friendly B&B
In our dog-friendly B&B, I love to offer these moments. In the morning, you walk with Vahina, and your dog sniffs every stone along the path. During your stay, a Safari-Photos outing is included, then you return to the fireplace, young and old gathered together. Finally, when you look up, skydivers, gliders and paragliders draw their circles above the valley, three kilometres from Gap-Tallard airfield.
If you feel like it, we will therefore walk to the cabanon together, because it is waiting for you, roof still to be repaired.
What awaits you in our dog-friendly B&B
